Ok i'v tryed a couple of ways to format my HD in my dell, but they all fail, and it dosn't boot from a cd drive, i try to format uesing the XP install, and i tryed to do a reinstall and it tells me the version is newer than wahts on the cd, (i know that) i want to reinstall the OS, and format the drive. Any Help?!

go into your BIOS and make the primary boot device the CD, leave the rest undefined.
if all else fails, 'format c:' in CMD

ok i tryed that and it goes into a never ending loading loop after the bios dell screen coms on

Umm, you could always try to when your computer starts, press F12 until your boot from device screen comes up, have the cd in the cd tray and then choose boot from cd, it will load up the windows xp thing. then delete the partition and reinstall windows on a new partition which will completely wipe your computer. In short,
Turn on computer, wait till bios screen comes up. press F12, install windows. ~Deathghast |

i tryed all of them, maybe it's the jumpers on the mobo that need to placed right

i got it, thnaks for the suggestions, i finally got it, it was the jumpers on the mobo and cd drive. great i got it
