TERMS OF USE – GEEKLANDS

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Geeklands, a technology and gaming content blog available at geeklands.com (the “Site”), owned and operated by Mutlu Can Koksal, based in Roubaix, Hauts-de-France, France.

2. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

Your access to or use of the Site in any manner constitutes your full and unconditional agreement to these Terms. These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and Geeklands.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time by posting the updated version on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We recommend that you review this page periodically to stay informed of any updates.

3. ELIGIBILITY

General Access: Anyone may browse the Site as a visitor without a specific age restriction, subject to these Terms.

Account Registration: To create a Registered User account, you must:

– Be at least fifteen (15) years of age. If you are between 15 and 17, you confirm that you have obtained the verifiable consent of your parent or legal guardian to register and use the Site;

4. USER ACCOUNTS

Account Responsibility: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (username and password) and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree not to share your login details with any third party.

Security: You agree to notify Geeklands immediately at admin@geeklands.com if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security. Geeklands shall not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from your failure to protect your credentials or from unauthorized access to your account.

Accurate Information: You agree to keep your account information accurate, complete, and up to date at all times. Geeklands reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account found to contain false or misleading information.

Suspension and Termination: Geeklands reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without prior notice, for any reason including but not limited to violations of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to access the Site and your account ceases immediately.

Anonymous Accounts: Even if you register under an anonymous or pseudonymous username, you remain fully bound by these Terms.

5. USER CONDUCT AND PROHIBITED USES

By using the Site — including its commenting features and any other interactive elements — you agree to conduct yourself lawfully and respectfully at all times.

Regarding Identity and Accounts:

– Do not impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity;
– Do not register multiple accounts or create accounts by automated means or under false pretenses;
– Do not use another person’s account without their explicit authorization.

Regarding Content and Communication:

– Do not post content that is defamatory, libelous, harassing, threatening, abusive, hateful, or discriminatory on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic;
– Do not post content that is obscene, sexually explicit, or inappropriate for a general audience;

– Do not post content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity or violence;
– Do not post content that infringes the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights of any third party;
– Do not submit false or misleading information, including false reports of abuse or misconduct to Geeklands.

Regarding Technical Conduct:

– Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any software or systems used by the Site;
– Do not use bots, scrapers, spiders, crawlers, or any other automated tools to access, index, or collect data from the Site without prior written permission;
– Do not upload, transmit, or distribute viruses, malware, ransomware, spyware, or any other harmful or malicious code;
– Do not interfere with or disrupt the security, integrity, or performance of the Site or its servers;
– Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site, its databases, or any related systems;
– Do not remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices appearing on the Site;
– Do not use anonymous proxies or similar tools to circumvent access restrictions on the Site.

Regarding Commercial Conduct:

– Do not use the Site to send unsolicited commercial messages, spam, or promotional content to other users;
– Do not promote pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, or similar schemes through the Site;
– Do not represent any content as sponsored or endorsed by Geeklands without explicit written authorization.

Geeklands reserves the right, but not the obligation, to monitor User Content and conduct on the Site, and to remove any content or suspend any account at its sole discretion, including content that violates these Terms or is otherwise deemed objectionable.

6. USER CONTENT

Ownership: You retain full ownership of any User Content you submit to the Site. Geeklands does not claim ownership of your User Content.

License Grant: By submitting User Content to the Site, you grant Geeklands a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, distribute, and display your User Content in connection with the operation and promotion of the Site, across any media formats now known or later developed. This license does not limit or remove your ownership rights in your User Content.

Representations and Warranties: By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that:

– You own the content or have all rights necessary to submit it and grant the license described above;
– Your User Content does not violate any applicable law or infringe the rights of any third party;
– Your User Content is accurate and not misleading.

Moderation: Geeklands reserves the right to review, edit, reject, or remove any User Content at any time and for any reason, without notice or liability.

Non-Confidentiality: Any User Content you submit to the Site will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary. Do not submit content that you consider confidential or sensitive.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Site Content: All original content published on the Site — including but not limited to articles, hardware analyses, peripheral reviews, optimization guides, lore deep dives, graphics, logos, design elements, and the Geeklands brand identity — is the intellectual property of Mutlu Can Koksal and is protected under French and international copyright, trademark, and related intellectual property laws.

Limited Personal License: You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, personal, non-transferable, and revocable license to access and read the Site’s content for your own personal, non-commercial use only. This license does not permit you to:

– Copy, reproduce, republish, or redistribute Site content in whole or in part without prior written permission;
– Create derivative works based on Site content;
– Use Site content for any commercial purpose;
– Systematically download, cache, or store Site content in any form.

Brand Assets: The “Geeklands” name, logo, and any related brand identifiers may not be used without prior express written permission from Mutlu Can Koksal.

8. MONETIZATION AND DISCLOSURES

Geeklands is not responsible for the content or accuracy of third-party advertisements, and their display does not constitute an endorsement of the advertised product or service.

Repeat Infringers: Geeklands reserves the right to permanently terminate the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers of copyright or other intellectual property rights.

12. DISCLAIMERS

The Site and all of its Content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Geeklands makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:

– That the Site will be continuously available, uninterrupted, or free from errors or technical issues;

All Content published on Geeklands — including reviews in The Lab and Gear, guides in Optimize, explainers in Explained, and lore content in Lore Vault — is intended for informational and entertainment purposes only. Nothing on the Site constitutes professional, technical, financial, legal, or any other form of advice. You should independently verify any information before relying on it for any significant decision.

13. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable French and EU law, Geeklands and Mutlu Can Koksal shall not be liable for:

– Any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Site or its Content;
– Any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or other intangible losses;

14. INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Geeklands and Mutlu Can Koksal from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

– Your violation of any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights;

15. TERMINATION

By Geeklands: Geeklands reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account and access to the Site at any time and for any reason, with or without prior notice. Grounds for termination include, but are not limited to, violation of these Terms, abusive conduct, copyright infringement, spam, or any illegal activity.

Effect of Termination: Upon termination of your account:

– Your license to use the Site and its Content ceases immediately;
– Geeklands may retain certain data as required by applicable law or as described in our Privacy Policy;
– Cached or backup copies of your User Content may persist for a reasonable period and are not immediately accessible to other users;
– Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law — remain in full force and effect.

16. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, including applicable European Union regulations, without regard to conflict of law principles. Your statutory rights as a consumer under French and EU law are not affected by these Terms.

Step 1 — Informal Resolution: Contact us first at admin@geeklands.com with a clear description of your concern. We will make every reasonable effort to resolve the matter informally within a reasonable timeframe.

Step 2 — Consumer Mediation: If informal resolution fails, and in accordance with Article L.612-1 of the French Consumer Code (Code de la consommation), you have the right to refer the dispute free of charge to a competent consumer mediator. Geeklands agrees to participate in such mediation proceedings in good faith.

Step 3 — EU Online Dispute Resolution: If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you may also submit a complaint through the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform at: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/

Step 4 — Courts: Any dispute not resolved through the above mechanisms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of France.

17. STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS

Any claim or cause of action arising from or related to your use of the Site or these Terms must be brought within the limitation period prescribed by applicable French law. Claims not filed within the applicable limitation period are forever barred to the fullest extent permitted by law.

18. INTERNATIONAL USERS

The Site is operated from France and is subject to French law and applicable EU regulations. Users who access the Site from locations outside France do so at their own initiative and are solely responsible for compliance with their local laws to the extent those laws are applicable to their use of the Site. Geeklands makes no representation that the Site or its Content is appropriate or available for use in all jurisdictions.

19. WAIVER, SEVERABILITY AND ENTIRE AGREEMENT

Waiver: Geeklands’ failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing to be effective.

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Geeklands Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Geeklands regarding your use of the Site and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, agreements, or representations regarding their subject matter.

20. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We reserve the right to update or revise these Terms at any time. Whenever changes are made, the updated version will be posted to this page with a revised effective date. For significant changes, we may also notify Registered Users via email or an on-site notice. Your continued use of the Site after any such update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Site.
